WTF? I think that is how the youngsters text my first question. What the fu@k did I think I was doing signing up for the Gobi March? I really am a complete and utter loony. I think I got a bit carried away with myself in September, that's where the problem started. I did a few runs and a few 5k races and survived so I must have started thinking I was an athlete again. December arrived and brought with it the snow which was a great excuse to stop running. I got snowed in for 3 days and then got snowed out for a day and what do you start to think of when you are surrounded by snow? Sand! Of course you do ... well you do when you don't have much of an imagination. So, full of enthusiasm and unable to afford a package holiday in sunnier climates I opted for the Gobi March in China ... yes, good move Paul Mac. For those of you who have met me on previous adventures (well, that's what I called them at first) the bear is still on my shoulder and will be coming to Gobi ... he'll be in First Class seating while I'll be in the cargo hold in the cheap seats. I'm hoping this snow will clear by May so that I can get some tapering in before the race starts. I love the last couple of weeks before a race when you have to build up, eat like a pig and lay back on the sun bed and work on your tan. Image is ever so important in these races isn't it? So, welcome to the Diaries of a Desert Loony. Don't expect any advice on kit, food or training ... if that's what you're after, try the next blog. All you'll get here is bollocks, nonsense and ramblings. My world and welcome to it.
